The falls running through the center of the image come from Goat Lake, which also is the source of a hydro electric project that provides power for the town of Skagway below.  In the upper left side of this image, "whitepass3-2216", you can see the pipe for the project.  The water flows through the pipe to the valley floor where the increased pressure powers the turbines.
