Natural color of the mountains, seen as purple in the distance, show the engineering marvel of the White Pass Railroad, halfway up its slopes. The train is seen around a steep curve on a hill in the foreground in a break between the green trees. And below it can be seen the original pathway the miners took during the 1898 Gold Rush.
