Snow and glaciers, seen in splotches, brightly colored white and blue, show themselves in a wonderful motif of abstract design, given in the parameters of purple mountains: A little strip afforded to the viewer above the already dramatic rolling lines of green around a tumultuous huge table of rock.
With the cut of the railroad line of the White Pass Railroad
blending through the tree lines. In the foreground, an old tree, no longer
growing shows all but its skeletal form in a vertical form, along with the
vertical softness of the trees below it, still retaining and leaves. And life
goes on in this speckled world of blues and greens and purples.
