The White Pass.
Skagway and Vicinity.Skagway is the Native American name for the place where the white water of the river meets the white caps of the sea. The Natives thought anyone who tried to live at Skagway was totally insane, because of the incessant wind that blows at about 70 miles per hour for two to three months in the winter. The port of Skagway is at the end of the deepest fjord in North America. It got electricity before New York City did. They thought it was going to be another Seattle. What happened?
