You can survive economy blackouts. You need plurality of units. This can be two or more persons working together and a spurious currency.

An economic blackout is any situation in which the individual is isolated from economic sufficiency for any extended period of time.  That's right, they don't actually need your lousy money.

Spurious currency is not as rare as one might suppose.  Supermarket coupons are one common example.
