A Contrast of Cadence

By Paul Hall, May, 1986, Brisbane, Australia.

And now there goes another drum

too far away to hear.

The seer harks when none else can,

it's cadence to revere.

He will advise all round about

and suffer the abuse

of those of taste's society

who fail to see the use

of looking past the surfaces

to what will lie beyond.

Warning, thus, is cast aside

by those who court despond.

Mankind hears but the drum of war

and, dancing to it's song,

reap the end result called death

as they go passing on.

The wise foresee the evil,

and hide themselves away.

The simple blithely passes on

destroyed thus in the fray.
