The Exuberant

By Paul Hall, April, 1986, Mt. Isa, Australia.

A bearing on reality; a compass course

along true paths that lead

To a positive conclusion,

Affords the man who reads the facts

Without remorse; and on a threshold

speeds in an effortless profusion.

He is not dumb but thought reflects

into terse speech,

Without the pensive tight regret

of remarkable retreat,

He needs no intellect's protrusion.

Each motion tired, he pushes on,

Pain invisibly concealed

in perfect ecstasy;

As exuberant he'll be,

And will repudiate illusion.
