THE BOOK OF EARTH.
(Written in 1986 in Brisbane,
Australia.)
The temperance of eloquence
will not efface the
place
Where tragic marked it's epilogue
upon the human
race;
Where men began to make amends
with talk of
greater truths
than all that once was talked about
by academic youths.
Yet business was less tendered
by military might
When men led out their feudal lives
and there was less
to fight
Upon a stage of tragedy;
Where evermore is
writ
The book of sad Earth's failure,
In blood and dust
and grit.
And no more mere verbosity
Can fill man's
yawning shame,
As on into eternity
beyond all thought
of blame
The wise will read and understand
The Book of Earth
some day;
Why nothing ever anymore,
could just have
it's own way.
