Exploitation of Labor Will Bring Retaliation
People in developing nations are recognizing their exploitation
by foreign businesses.
Now I know a lot of you are laughing at those statements. I'm not going to be so
naïf as to try to appeal to your conscience. But what I'm almost chuckling at -- almost because it's sort of displaced by a
sense of grief for you -- is the new found speed at which the worm can turn, so to speak.
In other words, in less than a decade, you could be homeless in a world where saars and resistant tuberculosis are old-hat diseases. Then, ha-ha-, your levity will be like grit between your teeth. By the way, you've sewn that one up, too. Just try to go panhandle a
convenient dollar for a cup of coffee and you'll get busted by the anti-begging laws you put in place. Your early trip to the pauper's grave will go unnoticed.
I'll bet now you're laughing even harder. "What kind of boy scout writes this stuff" you might be saying. Actually, it's an eagle scout. That and my army training helped me to get by on my two to three thousand a year income
during the two decades I traveled the world investigating developed and developing nations.
It rings like an old Chinese proverb: He who does not consider retaliation will be the first to go. Retaliation comes in all forms: for those who do ill, for those who do good, and for those who do nothing. And who, then, mister boy scout, is the type you judge to be doing ill? You might quip. Well, we have to look for the
surprise answer, here. The realization that shocks us the most is probably the most accurate.
And here it is. Drum roll, please. Ready? Those who practice foreign worker exploitation are
derelicts. What we used to call in slang, "bums". When the worm turns (notice I submit that it's not an "if"), you will only become what you already are:
panhandlers. You're a panhandler. An extractor of income for which you did not labor. A crime. You made it a crime. Perhaps it's a form of your own self-destruction.
I say actual panhandling on the street is not really a crime. Now I also know that you -- most of you -- are not really a bum, that you've worked hard in most cases. Perhaps your business might not have survived if you hadn't pushed the panic button and gone where the labor's cheap with your last millions. But the fact is that you occupied a
managerial position that someone more competent should have been in. You were the wrong man or woman to be at the helm, because you didn't work hard enough.
Easy for me to say. Yes. Not because I'm wrong, but because it's so blatantly obvious
that everyone else but you could see it. I'm just the only one to speak out, the others were too scared to whisper a word. You see, I know you could do better and I don't look down on you, but I also know you'd never consider a finger-pointer.
That reminds me of one of my jokes. There was someone pointing fingers, but don't worry. He was using a pencil sharpener.
Yes, it's all by far too complex for the human being to actually realize let alone solve. You probably know that. I do too. But I've been on the road for about twenty years or more. I've seen a lot of stuff. The last boy scout was a shoe maker; a cobbler. In those days the shoe makers used lasts (another joke).
In the developing nations there is still such a thing, or was when I was out there as a natural market. The natural market seeks it's own level. The minute the market is tampered with by man it begins to fail. The more it gets manipulated the faster the failure. With global marketing and exploitation of cheap labor the manipulation gets so great that the prospect of reversals of fortune are vastly greater, multiplied exponentially and accelerated drastically so that the status of global wealth could shift diametrically (do a one eighty) in a matter of years.
Let's take an objective look at your success as a result of labor exploitation. It's a
blatant cosmetic success. That is to say it's like cooking the books only getting away with it. With the proper use of domestic and international labor, with proper attention to human factors and the complete well-being of each employee and family dependants of any employee, and I've written about this before, your pure profit after overhead and taxation and all else including proper sufficient payrolls, would be at least thirty-five times greater than any
existent seeming success had by exploitational tactics.
In simple language, you're a failure. But that's not the worst thing. The worst thing is your
opinion of the people you exploit. You imagine them to be sub-human. Sub standard. You've got to, or else you would have treated them better. To you they're cattle only to be exploited. But they are competent human beings, and in fact in their midst are those who could easily best you at your own business and someday will.
But that's not the end of it. Then comes retaliation. They will -- I can only say -- do something. Something I'm sure will be pretty
radical. After all, they're furious at you and your nation for ruining their nation. They could do something
benign like hostile takeover of all American and European business and just fire you. I mean, let's face it, they certainly couldn't use you. You just don't have what it takes. You weren't cut out for such a tough job.
Still laughing? Probably. That's what the simple minded do with the education they bought. Simply use it for their own amusement or worse, their usual
misinterpretation of reality due to a psychotic state of denial. Well, laugh it up, joker. Have a real good time. Because as the old Texan once said, "You done paid for it".
But I think the emergence of the intelligencia of the developing nations will be a little bit more angry than merely resorting to
belligerent business tactics. I think they will take over your nation, something I wouldn't condone, but after all, you do have the best farm land in the world. Maybe even putting you in a
gulag or concentration camp in former Northern New Hampshire or North Dakota. Or maybe they'll
commandeer Canada, too, if only for that purpose.
Most probably they'll use Siberia as well. That's the old standby. Anything in the Artic Circle will do, actually. They will exploit labor properly. Oh, I disagree with it but let's not be in denial, let's not be the first to go. They might exploit not the citizen, but rather you, the political or even the newer
category, the business prisoner. And what they might imagine as the real way to do it,
minimal diet, no amenities, and no salary.
We all know it's really a form of execution, much like the Nazis did to their unwanted minorities
during world war two, they killed them by labor. That's one worst-case scenario. That one has no pauper's grave. Just cremation and mass disposal in an ash heap. Of course there are other worst case
possibilities, such as not even bothering with the former United States because it's too radio-active.
All because of you who were stupid enough, since the mid twentieth century, to not take proper care of your domestic and foreign workers as well as
contentiously seeing to the well-being of the surrounding communities. The homeland
defense should be after you people. You're the ones who caused this sort of thing, even though it looks like a lot of it rose out of religious prejudice.
Well, I'm not laughing with you. I'm ashamed of you. It's all so avoidable. And I've got a gut feeling that this retaliation I see coming is something that cannot be stopped. Those people are extremely angry and they are emerging into the full stature of human competence and
resourcefulness. After all, that's the ultimate in war, isn't it. I don't like it, but the truth is, the ultimate in their eyes, in the view of the
belligerents, is that war is basically one human being hunting down another, or each-other. You mightn't be able to stop anything, simply because you're not superior.
How much intellect do you think it would take for someone else to come up with a different but equal if not superior weapons system? Junk radar, interlinked cellular data systems scattered by computer guided V-1's with global capability clustered over a fifty-mile radius that only need to "see up". Cricket bomblets with
infrared flight-and-seek capability released by model remote-control aircraft by the thousand that only go off when they land on a human shoulder.
American legislators defeated by a one-party system of hackers linked by a state-of-the-art intranet. Hostile governments with an army of completely
subsidized entrepreneurs. Clusters of hostile governments purchasing cosmic
secret weapons systems so different from the American or European ones as to quickly defeat them
before a multi-trillion Euro retool could even begin. The list goes on.
Way to go. You have had almost a hundred years to make enough enemies to assure your unquestionable destruction. There's only one group more
culpable than you: those who did nothing. I mean, let's face it. Whistles are cheap. Not a sound. Their silence breathed consent. Way to go. What a bunch of creeps. What a miserable mob of self-serving greedy little failures.
It would have been better to have done something and to have failed than what you bunch did. Well, your biographers are waiting in the wings. They got their training
during the Nazi guilt years of the 20th century. And next they'll be after your
miserable little buts. After all they realize there's big money to be made out of a nice juicy
scandal. How the failures managed to worm their ways into the top jobs.
The worm turns, buddy. So laugh it up. You done paid for it. You done paid for it.
By the way, I'll go ahead and spoil my ending, here. I'm hoping you might find a glimmer of talent and pull out of the slump. There may be time to save the situation with some serious damage control. Only this time forget the facade. You'd only be fooling yourself.
