The Second United States Civil War
In case we haven't noticed, a time of imminent belligerence is creeping our way. It's
starting as before with a polarization in the legesislative branch of the Federal Government. This has gone beyond the stage of partisan bickering and is now headed for some higher level of confrontation.
It may be partially delayed by the time it takes for realization of the sides to
occur. The first civil war was polarized geographically. This time the polarization is
ideologically political and will be determined by something for the moment statistically
illusive such as one's personal commitment to one of the two belligerent political parties.
Nevertheless, if you're a fightin' spotter, you'll see an armed conflict arising
out of this one. Obviously, for civil war to occur, there must be some territorial procurement eventually, perhaps in geographic spots where groups can arm and train.
As the song goes, to everything there is a season. And this looks like a time of war. The conflict in
Afghanistan and the one in Iraq are just the previews. The real big ones like a United States Second Civil War, may still be a couple of years down the pike. Now, I hope it doesn't happen, but it just hit me today when I was thinking of how ugly it was getting between these
Republicans and Democrats over six minor judicial appointments.
A war can occur for a myriad of reasons, one probable candidate is that each party gets so vengeful that no further legislation can be accomplished. And since the present state of the Union is government by legislation,
which is a very foolish way to govern, the government would become so partisan it would just grind to a standstill. The United States was intended to be run like a business, that is, by a good set of rules,
changeable over time, augmentable at any time, implemented by capable and responsible execution of said rules by the executive branch, with close communication with the judicial branch to verify executive capability in each matter.
But instead what exists, more and more, is a competition between each of the three.
Khrushchev's famous "troika" concept, American style. The voters should get over there to the District of Columbia and start firing these warring corpses. Heads should roll, but it's not that simple. I've worked in Washington during my years as an information specialist. I've
couriered documents and kinescopes amongst the numerable civilian locations (human targets -- a new term for an old practice -- why do you think McVey called them "collateral damage"? makes you wonder about the twin towers, for one thing the FBI had a New York headquarters there. Better check YOUR office
building) of department of defense offices in Washington and environs and got a good look at the
intrigue and innuendo that goes on our Federal Capitol.
How could this happen? What fiery issues could so polarize a people? Well, it doesn't take much when war is in the air. This time it seems to be some stupid things like men's rights to cripple each other by means of anal intercourse and big
business' rights to use fetuses for commercial products like soap. If you're up on your history, people in ancient times used to avoid nations whose death rate exceeded the birth rate; they viewed it as a sign of corruption.
I mean, would you like to do business with a nation whose citizens couldn't afford to have children?
