"The Pensive Promenade"

Oil on canvas (small but very important painting)
1996 (The Greenwich Village Period).

I did this small painting of a figure walking through a clearing in a deep forrest late in the year.  Perhaps I could sense that my days in the Greenwich Village Studio were coming to an end and that I would never be able to paint like this again, and so it's been right up till the time I'm writing these lines in late 2003.  In the past thirty-seven years, I've managed to get some work done in different parts of the world, but never like New York in the sixties.
